I had someone talking to me at the bus stop, immediately antennas went off as soon as he came close. He tried to talk to be about something completely random, I said in a very firm tone and looking him in the eyes that I wasn’t in the mood and I wanna be left alone. He immediately proceeded to get angry and said “I don’t give a F***k if you’re not in the mood” and proceeded the rant for a few seconds while I was standing my ground and he left. I don’t believe if fawning and I’m ready to fight if needed. I will never place myself as a victim or compliant unless is a life-dea*t situation

Only problem is I don’t want to incriminate myself by physically attacking anyone unless it’s to directly safe my life. If it’s not directly self defense under the law they have full grounds to put me in jail for assault

talking does in fact de-escalate most of the time, you have to be able to put authority, ego and pride aside and be open, honest and empathetic, many of the comments section proves they refuse to do the former and haven't considered the latter

I saw an interview with a young woman who was raped at an Ivy League and she talked about how she didn’t attack her rapist because she would never hit someone. It was so sad to me to see how we train agency and self protection out of people and girls

Yesterday, I was taking a walk in broad daylight, around midday. Four 15 year old walk by, saying "cu*t" several times while looking me straight in the eye. I told them to shut up. One offered to "deescalate"things for me, because he did not want trouble with the police, all the while saying that his friends call him that word, repeatedly saying it. I told him to disappear, and he still came closer and closer. He left when I took out my mobile and started to film them. He even had the audacity to tell me I was not allowed to make photos if he did not consent! They only ran off when I said I did not want to call the police, but alert a few friends with baseball bats. They were, like, 15! I am thrice their age! I am so sick of this, it's been like this all my life.

I was attacked by a gang of boys of about 15 a couple of months ago. When the police finally arrived - I had managed to escape serious injury by taking refuge in the grounds of a business - the first thing they said was that they don’t want to criminalise them. Then they asked me why I was there, and what was I going to do there, and, yes, really, what did I do to antagonise these maggots. They also pointed out that if any of the attackers were ever identified, they would then make serious allegations about me, and produce numerous witnesses. I keep running through the scene, and thinking that I could have, in extremis, used a pen to stab them in an attempt to defend myself, in the absolute knowledge that I would then go to prison. I was Othered by these pond life because I am a male pensioner in my 70s.
