thank you for saying this because I've been trying to tell my family this for years because I have an older brother who's autistic and my grandma treats him like he's made out of glass and he gets aggressive a lot and acts in aggressive ways and says rude things and cause people out of their names. and the only excuse that my grandma uses is that he has autism even though he is 18 years old and he has been pulling the same stunt for years. there have been multiple times where he has attacked me most of the time trying to strangle me and I have even had to fight him one time for putting his hands on my grandma. it's not like he doesn't understand what he's doing is bad he does understand but he doesn't care because he knows he can get away with it. he has called me out of my name multiple times and put his hands on others multiple times. on top of that he has talked about wanting to harm and kill others frequently yet my grandma excuses it as autism. my brother knows that his actions are wrong but he doesn't care he doesn't act scared he's more mad when he gets caught.

Once I had a girl who was autistic grope my chest (we were both girls) and she had done it in the middle of class, and gotten no consequences, she has then gone on to not leave me alone no matter how many times she was told to, (they excused it as her trying to make friends, which yes I do understand, but she complains about people exactly like how she acts) leave me alone, and then I had to sit in class with her 6hrs a day no matter how uncomfortable or panicky and gross it made. Me feel. I was also told it was my fault (which I don’t understand either way?)

This is 100% true, i’m an aspie and i’m just blunt and I have a lack of empathy but my childhood friend has ADHD and he constantly uses it as an excuse to be obnoxious in public even though he’s going on 20, I constantly have to correct him despite being a year younger and it’s very exhausting. he also once asked me if he’s “autistic coded”…Huh? Well, no. 💀

I have this autistic kid in my art class and just, wow. Wow. The way he will get up in everyone's faces, and just yell. He does it to kids, teachers, staff. If he came up to me and starting yelling in my face, I'm going to yell back. I'm sorry, but your autism doesn't suddenly make it okay to cross people's boundaries. Where did we get that from? If someone came up in my face and started yelling at me, I will yell back. I don't care what your race is, religion, identity, etc. Either way, you crossed my boundaries and that's not gonna fly.

this. an autistic boy around 17 was stalking me every day for over a week, and when I told him to leave me alone, he said he was just trying to make friends. i explained that I'm not interested and you can't follow people around, but he continued for multiple days. I told my parents in hopes of them taking action since I'm a minor, but they said that since he's autistic it's not his fault.. PARDON?

I 100% agree with this, although something I've noticed is nobody will say anything in the moment, and then later on treat the person who said something unknowingly with plain disrespect. Never saying anything to the person is also part of the problem if that makes sense

I have unfortunately started pre apologizing especially online in comments and stuff I'll add like "sorry if this sounds mean" or something like that because I have had way too many people tell me I sound pissed or like the way I worded something was way too aggressive and I just don't notice especially when there's not a voice to hear the tone of and idk how else to express that I'm just like that and I'm not yelling at you 😭
