who is Hadi"?? Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi (1993–2025) 🇧🇩 Sharif Osman bin Hadi was a Bangladeshi political activist, writer, poet, teacher, and one of the prominent figures associated with the July 2024 uprising. Born in Nalchity, Jhalokathi, he studied Political Science at the University of Dhaka and later worked as a lecturer at the University of Scholars. Hadi rose to national prominence during the July uprising of 2024, becoming known for his outspoken political views and involvement in the movement. Following the uprising, he co-founded Inqilab Moncho and served as its spokesperson, advocating for accountability for the violence surrounding the movement and expressing his political vision for Bangladesh. Beyond politics, Hadi was also a poet who published a collection of poems under the pen name Simanto Sharif. In 2025, he announced his candidacy as an independent candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency in the upcoming parliamentary election. On 12 December 2025, Hadi was shot in Dhaka while campaigning. After receiving treatment in Bangladesh and Singapore, he passed away on 18 December 2025, aged 32. He was laid to rest beside the grave of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Dhaka. His death sparked widespread mourning across Bangladesh and renewed calls for justice and accountability.
