An inquiry concluded that a decades-old piece of debris in the engine very likely caused the Spitfire crash that killed RAF squadron leader Mark Long. The 43-year-old died near RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire on 25 May 2024, shortly after taking off for memorial flypasts and a display. it was his carborettuer the spitifre was knowing fir having issues with it has it had a float carboretter not a gravitational like the 109's
