Apple makes the elite personal equipment. I want strong local model that I daily interact with for my projects. The software & hardware is maturing. It can reach out the the latest and greatest AI models for more power but private data stays local. My need is about a year out. There is a place for both small and big, local and remote. I am looking at the Apple M7 Ultra chip set — late 2027 to 2028. Apple’s M series chips have a strong focus on AI from the start. The M7 makes a huge leap and it will be their second 2nm chip set. I’ve heard Apple will be offering a MacStudio Pro with up to four M7 Ultra boards and extra SSD slots creating a mini-rack with each of the M7U having 2TB of unified memory. Like the current MacMini & MacStudio, they will be chain-able to create local AI servers — local AI as good as GPT-6 Astra and reach out as needed for more advanced work to remote AIs at big data centers. This puts Apple in competition with NVIDIA for the lower level servers.
