It was incorrect for the Ooni to claim that Oranmiyan was the first king of Benin, as the Oba dynasty did not mark the beginning of kingship in Benin. Our history includes over 1,000 years of Odiowere rulers and another nearly 1,000 years under the Ogisos, from the first Ogiso Igodo to the last and 31st Ogiso, Ogiso Owodo, the father of Oduduwa/Ekaladeran.
