@zenith.irfan: PART 1: What do you do when a protest blocks your route and you need to reach a safe place to stay? You negotiate and most importantly, you stay calm. During my motorcycle journey towards Gilgit, I encountered a road closure in Chilas. Protesters had blocked the route, and everyone travelling through it was being stopped. They told me they were protesting over election-related grievances and wanted their demands heard. As a solo female traveller, my immediate concern was assessing my options. The place suggested for me to stay did not feel safe to me in those circumstances, so I explained my situation and asked whether they would allow me through. Among the crowd, I met Wajid, who helped me communicate with the protesters and negotiate a way forward. I’m sharing this experience to show the decisions that can come with travelling alone, and why staying composed matters. Did I make it through and reach Gilgit?
