I think he has a great point. I was having a conversation with one of my coworkers and he had mentioned that sometimes even in common sections you would be having a nuance discussion and an American person will come into the conversation. And essentially every time we have these conversations they apply this thing called American defaultism. I’m not sure if this is a word but what he was essentially saying is that a lot of American people when they are having conversations with people online they assume that everything that is being said is based on the American economy or America’s resources. Very rarely do they question the person that they are talking to and are curious about societies outside their own. Meanwhile the rest of the world we are curious about other cultures and we are taught about things going on in other places including America. Americans like that same curiosity for us. And to be honest I think the reason why a lot of foreigners want to go to America is mainly because Americans look lazy. Again this can be false but the perception of America around the world is laziness and entitlement. And many foreigners or foreign countries do not condone lazy people. So in order to have the “American dream“ we have to work really hard to get into a country that would give us the opportunity to be lazy and still get the benefits. I think that this also expands to the type of conversations people have online. Many countries have conversations about the wars going on around the world and also the economic conditions and all that and then you look at America’s political climate and you look at the conversations they entertain and a part of me just says “damn I wish I didn’t have this many things to think about because it must be nice not to care“. Again this is my opinion based on the perception I have of American culture. I am Congolese which pushes us to work extremely hard and I grew up in a foreign country and now I am working in an Asian country so work ethic in most of the countries that I’ve lived in has been very high

He made valuable points, but he delivered them poorly. It was more like my culture vs. theirs. Again, this is a perfect example of the crab-in-the-bucket theory. We will never move forward until we come together as one. It's bad apples( laziness) in all cultures… It's just that the other cultures are willing to guide their people in the right direction or support them instead of tearing them down

He worded it harshly but he was saying that opportunities are easier and more accessible in the US compared to other countries. And in those countries they grow up faster because of the environment. So when they see people here not making the most out of their opportunities they see those people as lazy and incompetent.
