That was a sacrificial anode. It's basically a lump of metal to protect the hull from rust.

If i'm right its a lump of different metal (i think zinc) from the rest of the hull that is more prone to rusting than the rest of the steel hull...it will attract all the gases that cause rusting before the rest of the hull 👍🏻 that's the extent of my memory of gcse science! 😁👌🏻

sacrificial anode, your boat becomes a cathode (relatively). so if it does its job and rusts, your boat doesn't. Keep up the good work fellas 👍

I love needle guns for slag, I love them for small areas... but for a wide open spot, a linear burnisher would be sooo much better, and even prep the steel better. even an angle grinder with a paint removing head seems more efficient. why use a needle gun? am I missing something?
