Now. We all know the truth (or hopefully we do): the best state to retire to is the one that makes you happy. The point of these best/worst videos is to make sure you’re not moving somewhere strictly for no income tax when the property taxes will eat you alive.

I moved from DC to NH. Gave myself a raise of $800/month by not paying income tax and now I also don’t pay sales tax. Weather is great in spring - fall and manageable in winter, especially if you like to ski (which I just learned to do)

I live in Texas and Oklahoma has low property tax, lower insurance rates, and if you are retired, the state income tax is negligible electric rates are still regulated as well.
