£18,500 in 1978 is equivalent to €112,000 in todays money, but the average price of a home in Dublin is €500,000.

My uncle bought his house in Dublin for €48,000 about 30 years ago! He got it valued recently at €320,000! How tf does that make sense?! I’m 29 and I wonder will I ever be able to afford a home, we have grown up at the worst possible time for homeownership! It’s impossible. And our government doesn’t give a toss

I was very lucky to buy in Dublin in 2005 for €195,000, neighbours paid €180,000 both new builds but shells, their house was a bit smaller. Anyway neighbours sold there house recently for €440,000 , bloody nuts, not worth it. Apparently we'd get €550,000, its not worth it. House prices are crazy right now, I dont know how people with normal jobs can afford them.
