@rose_from_rust: We have never had more access to the world. And maybe we’ve never been farther away from actually living in it. Before breakfast, you can stand beneath the pyramids. Walk through Paris while making coffee. See London while brushing your teeth. Climb Everest from the couch. Cross the Sahara without feeling the heat. Swim beside sea turtles without getting wet. Watch somebody stand somewhere you’ve dreamed about going your entire life. Then swipe up. And suddenly you’re somewhere else. We carry almost the entire human experience around in six inches of glass. That’s a beautifully complicated thing. Because technology didn’t make the world smaller. It made the world accessible. It showed us places our grandparents may never have known existed. It lets us see mountains, oceans, cities, cultures, people and lives thousands of miles away. That part is incredible. But somewhere along the way, seeing started pretending to be experiencing. And they aren’t the same thing. Watching someone climb Everest isn’t feeling your lungs fight for another breath. Seeing the Sahara isn’t feeling sand underneath your feet. Watching turquoise water roll onto a white beach isn’t standing there with salt drying on your skin. Seeing Paris through somebody else’s camera isn’t getting lost on a street where you don’t speak the language. A window ain’t a door. And that screen ain’t the sky. Maybe that’s the uncomfortable little truth buried inside this song. You can see everything and experience almost nothing. You can travel the world before lunch and never leave your kitchen. You can know exactly what somewhere looks like without having the slightest idea what it feels like to stand there. And eventually you have to decide which side of the screen you want your life to happen on. So throw the laptop in the pool. Cut the television cord. Toss the damn phone out the window. Okay. Maybe don’t actually do those things. 😂 But close something. Put something down. Walk outside. Buy the ticket. Take the road you’ve never driven. Get lost somewhere unfamiliar. Stand underneath something you’ve only seen in pictures. Taste something you can’t pronounce. Stay somewhere strange. Let the sun burn your shoulders. Let the rain ruin your plans. Let the world inconvenience you. Because maybe someday we’ll look back and realize the greatest danger of having the whole world in the palm of our hands was believing that meant we had actually touched it. I don’t want to see everything. I want to be there. She’s here. She’s there. But she’s never really been anywhere. Until now. 🌹 A Beautifully Complicated Thing Rose From Rust THIS LIFE Released October 2, 2026 RFR Music Group Put the phone down. Board the plane.
