I work at Shasta Regional Medical Center and I didn't know about it having the history of having super high rates of Kwashiorkor. That is super crazy. we also have not had a nursing union contract since May. Prime has fought the union here.

I work at a large hospital in Maine and honestly, we are STRUGGLING. Moral is low all over our state…

A great way to stop unions from forming is to treat your employees and customers well

Why people still use Prime healthcare is a mystery to me. They suck.

Maine and paramedic here...another fun fact is that recently all surgeries at CMMC were diverted due to substandard sterilization practices. That's an issue with direct implications for patients.

If unions were so bad for workers why do companies fight so hard against them?

Maine has also lost like 26 maternity wards across the state in like the last ten years, there are places where parents will need to drive two hours on a good year to get to a hospital where they can deliver

Lewiston is already a wildly underserved area! The state cannot afford to lose any more access to healthcare! Congrats Cmmc nurse nurses on winning your vote!

It's not like patients have options to go to a different hospital in that area of Maine.

They are not just trying to turn a profit. They are trying to extract every possible penny possible out of hospitals.

tbh none of the hospitals are doing great in Maine. one of the non profit networks I'm aware of just laid off 15 of their IT guys. no idea how many more outside of those that went aswell 🫠

everyone needs to remember that nursing has evolved rapidly, and the amount we are required to do on the computer has like tripled over the last 15 years, but staffing ratios have not improved, and our pay has remained stagnant. having nurse aids is what allows us to focus on things that we cannot delegate. I’ll wipe ass until the cows come home but if it’s interfering with my ability to give medications, review labs, contact doctors ect ect, that’s a huge problem. having lots of aids helps the patients, the staff, and the hospital. makes everyone happier and safer.

Travel Nurse here: I took an assignment with HCA in SC. I lasted 3 days and decided that I didn’t want to risk my license, so I dipped out. 20 years of nursing (10 as a traveler). That was the only contract I didn’t complete in full.

In my experience, it has been the boomer nurses who don’t want to change the status quo and vote against unionization. They want to keep things they’ve “always been” and cruise their way to retirement

I have worked with SEVERAL BlueWater Physicians and they were all phenomenal. They have so much experience from so many different emergency departments in New England, that I couldn’t imagine having anyone better working with me in the rural ER I was in.
