This might be a universal experience, it especially holds true if you met that person as a child or under 25, there’s something that’s pure and innocent about those friendships, it reminds me of that movie “stand by me” I don’t think we ever get that feeling again

I know exactly what you mean. I can’t put it in words entirely, but I think it’s this feeling of being totally authentic with no judgement or pushback. With friends nowadays, you have to be “healed” and “have a therapist” and “be the best version of yourself” for them to accept you. Sometimes I just yearn for my ex bestie who did immature stuff with me or wouldn’t gaf if my room was a disaster when she came over. I miss that she would just show up at my apartment to hang without even asking me. With new friends, there’s always this barrier that you can’t fully get rid of. The connection just isn’t the same.
