French Onion Meatloaf 🧅🧀 🛒 Ingredients: 900 g (2 lb) ground beef 2 large onions, thinly sliced 2 tbsp butter 3 cloves garlic, minced 1 cup breadcrumbs 2 large eggs 1/2 cup whole milk 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp dried thyme 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp black pepper 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese, divided 1/2 cup beef broth 1 tbsp cornstarch 1 tbsp cold water 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley 👩🍳 Directions: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish. Melt the butter in a skillet. Add the onions and cook for 15–20 minutes, stirring often, until soft and golden. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, milk, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, salt, pepper, and half of the cooked onions. Shape half the meat mixture into a loaf. Add 1 cup cheese down the center, then cover with the remaining meat mixture and seal the edges. Bake for 45 minutes. Top with the remaining onions and 1/2 cup cheese, then bake for another 15–20 minutes, until the center reaches 71°C (160°F). Transfer the meatloaf to a serving plate and let it rest for 10 minutes. Add beef broth to the skillet with any remaining onions. Stir in the cornstarch mixed with cold water and simmer for 2–3 minutes until the onion gravy thickens. Slice the meatloaf, spoon the onion gravy over the top, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.
