not only is it just not true, but it just perpetuates the idea that women are just being hormonal instead of actually having psychological issues that need to be addressed and treated

I do enjoy listening to you because when I was in University '03-04 my psych professor taught that BPD wasn't really a thing and was just used to tell women they were crazy. She cited the fact that it only seemed to be diagnosed in women as evidence.

I think you're missing her point. I don't think she's saying BPD isn't real, but that is over diagnosed and many women who have been given a BPD diagnosis are actually struggling with a different condition. Your last point that if stabilizing their histamine corrects the issue it means they don't have BPD is her entire point. She's pointing out what she thinks is a common misdiagnosis

people who say this pretend to be woke and support women but believe we are beings merely acting based on our hormones. we are incapable of being individuals with psychological issues that require help, it's just us being hormonal. it's so misogynistic to me

i take antihistamines every day and that definitely does not affect my PMDD. what does affect it however, is taking a higher dose of antidepressants in my luteal phase lmao

ive been taking antihistamines daily since I was 3 and I still have BPD. they do not change my symptoms in any meaningful way (if anything they make me less irritable because breathing helps with that)

I was told my severe hashimotos hypothiroidism was giving me mood swings. I have no mood swings I sleep 15 hours a day my doctor is just a family friend who happens to hate that I challenge his beliefs in order to get diagnosed of my multiple conditions including this one and wanted to have an excuse to call my attitude crazy and hysterical and what better way to do it than hormones!!

I'm going to talk to my doctor about all this but what do histamines have to do with hormones? As somebody entering perimenopause who has been breaking out and hives randomly over the last 2 months I'm very curious about this. And I mean random, there is no pattern to the hives breakouts.

"BPD is just modern hysteria" but it's just them treating women with BPD as hysterical instead of understanding the disorder

On this note, as someone professionally diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and PMDD, I am kinda sick of the “BPD is just misdiagnosed autism and PMDD” rhetoric as well. I know there DEFINITELY can be overlap in symptoms and presentation. I thought I had BPD as a teenager but I was tested and didn’t/ have never met the criteria. There are people with BPD who absolutely do not meet the criteria for ADHD, Autism, or PMDD. I’m sure misdiagnosis happens, but overlap and comorbidity does not mean BPD isn’t real. I have known others who do have comorbid autism/adhd/bpd and the way their emotional dysregulation presents is very different from mine. I know I’m just one person with one experience, but I think this is part of a larger problem. I think a lot of people seek out an ADHD or autism diagnosis because they believe it makes their behavioral issues “out of their control”, and they don’t want to be diagnosed with BPD, something that is possible to go into remission from bc that means they’d have to do the work. Idk, just a thought I’ve been having. Thank you for this video— I feel a lot of empathy for those with BPD and I’m glad we have someone debunking all the harmful misinformation that runs wild on TikTok.
