Does he work a very demanding job that keeps you in a life you’ve become accustomed to??? 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I felt this way once or twice, then I watched him do the snow or garbages and make good money to support us or do odd jobs that I took for granted that take him 3 hours at a time and I checked myself and realized we are partners we just have different duties to the house/home/ cars. 🚘

You sound like my ex wife. I worked hard to provide. She stayed home, watched a ton of tv and Instagram. She took at least 2-3 baths a day. I came home from work, made dinner, read with the kids, got them to bed. All while she complained I didn’t do enough. Never a thank you - just talked trash about me and the mental load.

I feel like that’s the balance ,that’s what women do when men are working and providing for you. I did all of that raised my children. They’re all grown and gone now and so is my husband. I miss those days…

what none of you see is the things he does before you even know they need to be done. when a man carries out a task he doesn't feel the need to give you a list of things he achieved today. in my experience we can carry out 99 tasks but it's the 1 incomplete task that gets noticed. At no point is my wife doing chores or carrying out these logistical, organisational tasks while I'm doing nothing. shes good at the logistical stuff and I'm good at the practical stuff. it just works. half the time we can do something without asking and be met with disapproval cause it's not the way you do it and this constantly being critical of how we achieve the end result just trains us to not bother cause who wants to be criticised every time they try to help? you can't have control and at the same time have someone who shares the tasks, just cause it's not your way doesn't make it wrong. the man described here sounds like a good guy and if you're overwhelmed a conversation early on is way better than just giving up. The key is understanding each othees burdens rather than making it a competition about who does the most.

As a man married for over 40 years, here’s my take, communicate. If you have a burden, share it. If you need to talk, say it. I think many problems arise when the communication stops and resentment builds.

I felt like this once but now I have learned to understand how my husband operates. He is always willing to do anything I ask of him but he doesn’t think of things himself. So instead of feeling alone and frustrated I just ask him and all is well. It’s easy to fall into roles that we understand to be a male or female parent but the only way to learn is by discussing thoughts and feelings with your partner and develop strategies.

I asked my wife when she would finally start contributing financially to the family since we share all obligations but money. She was very quiet did say anything. At that point I was done.

Reading this has opened my eyes, and I’ve been treating my wife the same and selfishly not understanding the burden I can be, I need to open my eyes more and do things without asking, and stop taking the women I love deeply for granted. Thank you

I always say im your wife not your mother! And if you want your mother move back to hers. Harsh reality but men still expect us like the 1960’s housewives that did everything however we now have to work to

This has me crying. 😭😭😭 My mom did almost everything bc there was no man in our home to help her. My father betrayed her in many ways so they divorced when I was 5. I am forever grateful for all she did for us and for all her struggles to provide for us. I will never let my lady feel like this. Not ever. 🙏

I’m a widow my children are grown-up. Don’t live anywhere close to me. The only communication I have with them is on the telephone. Let me tell you, darling. I’d kill somebody to be able to go back to them days and never complain. One fucking second I was there. I feel you sometimes I was so overwhelmed. I could spit nails. Now I’m all alone. It’s silent. It’s horrible.

the best part is, if you ask a man what you want him to do without having to ask you first, he'll do it. he'll do it every day after that. communication is the single most important thing to keep a healthy relationship. the problem is sometimes we want the other person to be like us, to think like us without having to be told. I'm the same way, I'm the go to when everyone needs help and it's mentally draining and physically exhausting... but the best part is that communication actually works...

I used to get the same from my ex husband “just tell Me” “just ask” “where’s this” “why are you so tired” I told him if I’m using my energy to tell you I might aswell use that energy to do it myself, he once said men aren’t good at things like that, what? Being a human? A partner? Like appointments? Birthdays? Plans? The bin needs emptying? We need food for the house? Can you parent your child so I can have a shower? In the end I told him I’m not mothering him aswell as our new born baby and if I’m doing it on my own I might aswell be on my own, the divorce was finalised this August 2 weeks after I found out he’d been cheating on my for the last 8 months before we separated 🤦‍♀️

Wow, my wife was an alcoholic, which meant despite doing the big job as you would describe it, I did 90% of the chores, did virtually all the remembering, all the school forms, all the parent evenings, all the birthdays, my wife has a beautiful soul but has an addiction after 11 years she is on top of it, it took a toll but we came through it, her kids still love her, I still love her. Never ceases to amaze me how those who never really face adversity can be so self obsessed and lack the ability to have a straightforward conversation early.
