As a bank employee, Ive realized most customers don’t understand anything about bank security protocol and take it personally. They think we would purposefully want to make it hard for you??? but how would a bank teller even benefit from that??? Think people think, it’s all fraud protection bc fraud is so bad rn

Banks don’t have a problem or 2 step verification when you depositing large amounts, as soon as you want to withdraw suddenly there are more steps you have to go through

As a bank teller. Please have grace on the employees, the pin/code/any other forms of verification are REQUIRED of us. The system will not let us bypass it. If we COULD just hand you the money, we would LOSE OUR JOBS!!! Trust me, we do not want to ask you for all your information as much as you don’t want to give it to us.

The issue is people are scammers : they will bring a fake ID with YOUR name and information in. It’s a real thing. So in order to verify the customer we have to send a text message or honestly whatever the system asks because people are literally out there trying to steal peoples money.

This is why being a bank teller is mentally draining, people don’t know that different banks/credit unions have different rules. Everything that we do is for our members protection, there’s so much fraud now a days and people really don’t understand that. Good on the teller for being calm cool and collected, it’s not an easy job :(

why didnt she know her own pin number? and why couldn't she just get sent the verification code? its supposed to be her own account.. she didnt give ID she gave a CC and a debit card not an actual ID wth her picture name on it.

I work at a local bank for a few years, and you did be surprised how often fraudulent transactions happened. Some people don’t even look like their ID even though it’s the actual person, and then another person could look similar like the person on the ID but isn’t the same person. Therefore, dual verifications is necessary and required both from government regulations stand point, and guaranteeing the safety of individuals money being spent as the account owner actually intended it.

Absolutely not! Its a fucking bank! I will be depositing a large amount of money next week and the second they tell me Im not allowed to withdraw those legal funds is the second I withdraw and close my account! Its not theirs and have no right to with hold.Absolutely not.Take youre buisiness somewhere else or keep cash.
