My understanding is that he asked for a bifurcation of rhe trial but since that was denied he had to use the insanity defense feom the beginning. If he had the chance to argue complete innocence in a bifurcated trial he would have argued they didn't prove her guilt. I may be mistaken.

I saw this coming from the very beginning, because he tried to get the judge to bifurcate the trial in the very beginning and the judge said no. If the judge would have agreed, then he could have fought for her the right way - asking for proof that she even did this thing. But since the judge said no, he was only left with the choice todo what he did. But during the whole trial he was leaving the crumbs. He was very strategic. He dropped facts that created reasonable doubt, so at the very least they would start wondering if she even did this at all. Not a day late and a dollar short. He was playing the long game from the start.

Litigation is so confusing. Everyone keeps questioning him but he knows exactly what he’s doing. We could ask the same about the commonwealth because they switched up the narrative a lot from opening to close. They began saying (not verbatim) that she wanted an easy fix and wanted out of that life and acted willfully and strategically and that she wasn’t suffering and then totally flipped at closing arguments.

Same to be honest. He should have gone full not guilty immediately, he was assigned early enough to make some sort of applications for a thorough investigation. I’m half convinced he’s on the wrong side because the DA not rejecting the complete lack of evidence is one thing, but that not being questioned by her lawyer immediately is a bit odd for me

I think he said that because he didn't have all the facts he has now. Which is everything Patrick said. This whole case is pretty much based on what Patrick said and for some reason his word became law. Go figure!
