@that_emo_mom: The line to get in was a mile long, and the wait for each food truck & vendor was a minimum 30 minutes to an hour today at the Gluten Free Fall Festival in Long Grove, IL. Amazing idea, but better planning needed to accommodate the demand. @She Craves Gluten Free 😋 Drove over an hour for this disappointment. So fricken hangry RN 😭 😭 #glutenfree #celiacdisease #celiac #glutenfreelife #glutenfreefallfest

organizers did great despite the fact that they didn’t expect the huge magnitude of people who showed up to support the festival, yes there were long lines but what do you expect with this being the first festival of its kind in the chicagoland area? applause to the all the staff for doing their best and hoping for a better outcome next year, will be looking forward to trying it again!!!

I’m just curious who was the first 500 that left with goodie bags, and what time did you get there?!

Also didn’t tell the local businesses they were coming so every place in the area was understaffed and running out of food, non gluten free included (confusingly)

Showed up with my six year old before 11am, by the time we found parking it was 11:45, within minutes of being there, we were being pushed around, lines were a mile long, my son got literally claustrophobic in there, we left empty handed 😞 after driving an hour to get there.

Somehow, this post made it to my FYP in Seattle 😅 gluten-free is such a big lifestyle in Seattle that everywhere you go, you can usually get gluten-free options! Is it not like this in Illinois? Lol

So many people need gluten free options. This should prove to restaurants to do better. So more training and have safe food. People need/want it!!

I have never not waited an absurd amount of time at a food truck. Not only is their food expensive, it never looks like the photo and I havent had a portion size thats made me feel like its worth it. Half the time the same person taking your order is the same person cooking so that line is backkkkked up. I think as a business model food trucks arent good for anything other than ready-made treats

We were #340 in line and we left within an hour because it was so crazy. We got some waffle blox, a loaf of gf sourdough and a couple empanadas. It’s a WONDERFUL concept that needs more space and more time.

Waited in line, didn’t get in. Disappointing. They (generally speaking – towns, etc., not these specific organizers) should do these more frequently across multiple areas so locals stand a chance and people don’t waste their time driving long distances. Or maybe a larger expo at a fairgrounds/convention center, ticketed event. The small bakeries/food trucks are nice and all, but it would be cool to get some products available via retail to try, sampled products, etc. I hope the Chicagoland restaurant owners see this video and make some additions to their menus, as well – gluten free buns, breads, small substitutions. What I would give for a GF grilled cheese and soup at a small diner!
