@birdfeedingwithkurtis: There’s something about feeding birds in the fall that feels different. The mornings are colder, the rain starts showing up again, migration is still moving through, and suddenly the feeders that sat a little quieter through summer start becoming part of the daily routine again. And this is also the time of year where good equipment starts to matter a little more. A solid pole system, feeders that are easy to fill and clean, good drainage, secure mounting and food that stays protected as much as possible. None of those things are particularly exciting on their own, but together they remove so many of the little frustrations that can come with bird feeding. And more importantly, they make it easier to keep everything clean, stable and reliable for the birds using it. Fall is usually when I start changing things around a little, adding feeders back, watching who returns, and getting everything ready for the colder months ahead. Today just happened to come with the perfect soundtrack for it too. Rain on the roof, wet leaves, and birds settling back into the feeders.
