Conroe and the Willis area was my home for 52 years. I was born in the old hospital that was on 1st street in Conroe in 1968. The entire area has grown so much over the last 10 years. When I was a child, I remember when hwy 75/ Danville in Willis there were no signal lights only 4way stop signs. Everyone seemed to know everyone. We would wave to everyone that we seen in town. People would think you were crazy if you waved at them there days. I miss the days when both Conroe and Willis were nice friendly towns when you could leave you doors unlocked without a bit of worry about thieves stealing or breaking in.

I feel like Houston 1970 was pretty cool looking. I think the crime was different back then and still somewhat safe.

What a cool find! I love seeing films from the '30s & '40s, especially from places that I've been. One of my great grandma's brothers worked in the sawmill in Conroe, and 2 more worked in the oil fields before moving to Sour Lake for more work.

I was born in 1958 in Montgomery County Hospital on first Street. I grew up in Conroe all my life. Conroe has gone through a lot of changes some for the better and some for the worst. Conroe will always be home.
