Undercolor makes a difference, paint black first then apply the red. The light under tone is what currently making it pink

and no matter the colour, it will always need atleast 2 coats, the first coat will always be uneven

Red pigment molecules are larger and don’t adhere well, if you’re using house paint instead of an enamel it will also be patchy. I also reccommend using a wood cabinet paint roller and not a brush as the smooth surface even sanded and primed can cause uneven application. You’ll also possibly need to do multiple coats.

Reds can also be like this on walls too. I just did three coats on a wall and still wasn’t happy.
