Hiiii! You can do it! I decided that I can’t let my love for this industry hinder my life as the industry is too fickle/unpredictable and my life will fly past and i’ll regret it! we just bought last year (where you are buying so dm if you wanna grab coffee!!💕) and got a dog this year and I’m just gonna make it work, luckily my partner isn’t in MT and wfh mostly but i’m firmly believing you can make life work and achieve life goals whilst being in the biz xxx

what does settled mean to you? I'm someone who has an MT degree but has worked in telly for the last 12 years. 5 years ago we bought a house outside of London, matried 4 years ago and now have two babies...all of this in my thirties. And all my income still comes from industry work and I am PICKY because work life balance, in this one life we have, is vital

Love this video darling! You are such a breath of fresh air. I think this industry will always have elements of chaos . I do think they can co exist but you have to appreciate that it constantly changes so finding the things you are in control of is so important. Having boundaries & accepting that when those boundaries come in there will be less opportunities because of it . So it’s accepting that and celebrating it rather than panicking & worrying ‘that’s it’. Having work and an income on the side of being an actor is so important because of that :) you’ve got this. Ps congrats on buying a new house. That’s amazing. 💛

I’m 32 this year, bought a house this year with my partner and we have a 1 year old. At 28 i was NOT settled, no idea what i wanted in my career/life anymore. Settled happened for me when i took a break away from it all for the past year to be honest! No auditions, just living my normal life! And i feel content in my life for first time in ages. I still have an agent and i’m still wanting to return to theatre world but i’m equally not rushing into it. What will be will be! I’m also WAY more picky now. It’s west end or nothing and im okay with nothing now x

It never becomes more settled if you stay in this industry! (Sorry to say) I’m 33 and just married and worked lots in my 20s - but your priorities will change and the choices of should I do this audition/job become easier and you find yourself making different choices and so it becomes lots more chill & it’s possible to make it work, my biggest advice is find a way to earn money that can co exist with performing and that you enjoy! ♥️Also please message me if you want to talk about it more - it took me a long time to figure it out but finally feel content xx

Honestly this was my struggle. I’ve moved away from performing and am trying to figure it all out. I turn 30 next month and no idea what I’m doing 😅 hope that makes you feel a little easier. You’ve got this and it’s not impossible to have both 🫶🏻

MY Girlie, over 30 with two kiddos - yes you can feel settled. Buying a house and making it a home absolutely will help as first steps to roots. But felt most settled when I started saying No to touring, only to stuff that’s seriously special . Hope that helps.

Hi! I started to feel settled when I had my (rental) flat with my wife. I still do tours, regional theatre etc and just knowing that there’s a place to come home to is brilliant. Also, with more experience as a performer came some confidence (yay) and I feel more settled as a person now :)

I felt settled as soon as we bought and moved into our first house. Went on another few contracts for another 2 years and then I knew I wanted to be in our home all the time. I ended up home 2 months before Covid, felt like a forced decision but I was 27. Changed career, got married and have a dog and two human babies but I wouldn’t change a thing. I think MT/performing will come back into my life in my 40s and that makes me excited xx

I don’t think settled goes with the theatre industry. I find it easier now it’s now my main profession but it’s still is a funny (and brilliant) old lifestyle.

Hiii, I turned 30 this year but did things the opposite way round and had my kids and house etc early. Now my kids are at school, I’ve built a proper parallel career/flexible work for the inbetween - I’m coming back to MT. I think being settled has made me a much more grounded and better actor, and I have less time to overthink. The biggest thing for feeling settled for me was finding community, local gym class, volunteering and having kids has help so much with this. Now settled is my normal and the acting gets to feel exciting again xx

@Joanne Harper: Ahhh this industry, I don’t think you ever feel settled. I’ve been in this industry professionally for 12 years !! I’m 33, I’m still gigging. I’ve moved away from MT but I’ve just started my Pilates course! I think having something else you love on the side just for a little bit of comfort would help you millions ✨♥️sending lots of love x

I feel settled, but I'm not really performing much since having the kids. Now I'm doing a PhD on vocal change during pregnancy in MT performers, so I still feel like I'm part of that world, but I'm now in the place where I think I need to get a proper full time job. I'm 38 and tired!
