Lin family and Shen family choose different paths.. and neither is wrong.. Lin broke off the engagement so they would have no ties to the Shen family, which was shitty thing to do but I get it, them being attached through an engagement could have got the Lin killed. Also Shen family didn’t need a warning, the made up their mind what their stances was, grandma Shen had poison prepared for herself, because she knew the outcome she just didn’t realize that the whole Shen line would be wiped out, and that’s why she apologized to the women. The choice was essentially taken away from them. Just like marriage for women, the choices were taken away from them. FL choice was taken away by the ML, just like in #1, her choice was taken away by him (through family) of their engagements. Like how she didn’t eat his wedding bun but when she ate the wedding bun at her marriage and cried. Everything comes to full circle in show and I love how they do.

Exactly I like the how they directed the “Shen reveal” scene without words. They have mutual UNDERSTANDING. Even before they married. They know what the other person wants without speaking. Walls have ears. You don’t know who might be listening. If people found out, it puts everyone at risk. Her, Her adopted parents, her new baby for being half Shen , the Lin family too.

What’s everyone’s thoughts about the end of this episode when Lanxiang tells the children what she lives for and she doesn’t mention Jingxi. She says her parents, her daughter and herself. If she ended there I’d be a little sad for Jingxi but ‘oh well’. But then she starts to talk about the first shoot of spring and all other number of things. Up to this point I have been ok with the dynamics of their relationship but I think the lack of his name being called really shows me that the love he has for her she does not and will never reciprocate. I’m sorry for his character. As for never saying who she is, maybe she will join him on his annual trips to the Shen burial ground and while there she will refer to them as her parents etc?
