@thehooksclan: I keep coming back to the same thing… if my nine year old can understand why this is wrong, why silence matters, why “I didn’t do anything” is not always enough, then I really do not want to hear excuses from grown men. The entire Cornell 57 situation makes me sick. The number of people involved. The people who allegedly knew things were happening. The silence. The culture around it. All of it. And as a mom raising a boy, this is exactly why these conversations matter to me. We spend so much time teaching girls how to stay safe. Watch your drink. Stay with your friends. Text me when you get home. Trust your gut. Say no louder. I want to put just as much energy into raising a son who is safe for women to be around. A boy who knows that if something feels wrong, you do not laugh along, look away, or decide it is none of your business. You speak up. He is nine.
