@mostlycoasty: Tucked away in the cuts of the San Francisco Peninsula is one of my favorite not-so-secret spots. A beautiful drive down Skyline Hwy 35 takes you to an exposed, grassy hilltop parking lot that does not appear particularly lush. As you hike through the rain shadow of the hill, you'll find much more tree coverage, a slightly muddy trail, and a shady, fern-covered oasis (even in dry summer) that feels very Fern Gully. ☀️ Despite some shade coverage, this location can get very hot.
