@kadenwatson11: Poltergeist is a movie that uses ghosts as a way to address the real fear of its suburb setting, that not everything is as perfect as it may seem. Let’s discuss! #kadensmovieclub #whattowatch #movies #poltergeist
"You son of a bitch, you left the bodies and you only moved the headstones! You only moved the headstones! Why? Whhhyyy??!!!"
poltergeist will always be my number one movie. Its a perfect movie to me.

I think I watched it with a different view😭 I thought it was about how the suburban life was just built on the dead bodies of the people, especially after the war and how after the war everyone wanted the ideal American dream for it only to be not as glorious as it was

One of my favorite movies, but the abrupt cut from the kitchen is still baffling. That said, the maggots/face melting is still one of the all time greats!

As a kid, I was too scared to watch this movie (yet somehow the Exorcist was fine). As an adult, its more fun to watch the efvects BUT it is still genuinely scary.

Loved this breakdown! This was the first movie I’ve watched for movie club, thank you for explaining the static. I kept wondering throughout if the poltergeist was switching the tvs to static or if it did that on its own

watched it for the first time bc of this club!! really struck me that they could’ve escaped the ending (although it was classic spielberg) by just saying goodbye to their belongings and getting tf out. however, the theme of possession, both physical and spiritual was rampant through the whole film so it stands to reason that they’d want all their things to go with them in the move. really enjoyed the movie, excited for next week!!

Excellent analysis. I went to USC in the late 1980s and the child actor that played the son was there… he got to keep the clown doll we all asked him about it

Here is your not so fun fact about Poltergeist: the film series is considered by many to be cursed as they used real skeletons in the third act of the film.
