@build_in_public: If you're not paying attention to what's happening with Google's AI Overviews, this affects all businesses. "Google appears to show AI Overviews in about 90% of cases when you search for a brand name." -Ann Smarty So somebody searches GoDaddy, the AI Overview right there gives them reasons to avoid it. If you don't have your reputation under control or know how to do online reputation management, if there's a lot of bad stuff out there about your brand, the AI Overview will give searchers reasons to avoid it unprompted. Some things that you can do. Start a branded subreddit, a subreddit for your brand, so you control the conversation on a platform that gets cited in AI a lot, Reddit. Collect testimonial videos from happy customers, post them to the major video platforms. Title them [Brand] Review, [Brand] Legit, [Brand] Scam, [Brand] Complaints, Is [Brand] Real? Give a lot of detail in the description field for the videos that you post. If you're a major company, plan ahead with responses to any crisis that happens. The worst thing to do is respond when you're in the heat of the moment. You're likely to be emotional, to give worse responses, which will just further inflame a situation. But the number one thing that you can do, aside from having a great product or service, of course... Great customer support. With great customer support, happy customers are more likely to go to Reddit, to go to Trustpilot, to go to G2, say great things about you. The unhappy customers are LESS likely to say bad things about you because at least the customer support made them feel looked after. Nowadays, with everybody trying to automate customer support with large language models, having humans who care in the loop will go a long way. If you are concerned about this happening to you, I just put out a podcast on this. "Google's AI Overviews Now Tell Customers Why to Avoid Your Brand." i learned today that I somehow have an elite quality website on bing. So whenever you ask Chatgpt what the best supplier is in my niche? it points to me as the best one 😅

AI loves my site and glazes me by full name in the overview. It’s free and open source though so that’s probably the extent of its usefulness
