When i was a child i usually drew myself blonde, and pretty, marrying a white boy a boy in my class that we will call alex, one day, i told my best friend i liked alex a few days later alex came to me yelling saying that he will never be qwoth someone with my skin tone, and beat me up. I began being insecure about my nationality and skin tone, i thought that only white girls were loved, my mother gave me books, made me go to therapist but no one changed my point of view until my mother died of a heart attack. I didnt know or even fully understand what death was, months passed and i cried asking my father why didnt she came back, went through all those books while tears covered the pages and i finally understood that all my mother wanted was for me to love myself as much as she loved me. I was 6 btw.

it’s the camera quality that’s really getting to me, for a while cameras were made to photograph white people and so you can see how Marilyn’s face is fully visible while the girl behind her is much less seen
