I got mine a plain large ceramic bowl and like the tiniest air pump for a fish tank that I clipped on the side of the bowl so the water still had movement but now there isn’t a million pieces I have to take apart and clean every two days. Game changer honestly

honestly if you regularly clean your filters you won’t need to buy new ones as often. the filter in my cats fountain is the same one it came with and i got it 4 months ago, i clean it at least once a week and it looks damn near the exact same as the first time i put it in the fountain.

It’s literally not that hard to keep them clean filters shouldn’t need changed constantly if they’re getting gross from the water give them purified water it’s that simple. I wouldn’t trust giving my cats tap water anyway with all the crap they put it in these days

I used to use a fountain so much more hassle than a normal bowl. Some cats won’t drink standing water though so I get it.

My cat drinks out of the downstairs kitchen faucet I think the falling water is more natural and my cat likes to dunk his forehead and it’s free haha

if it doesn’t have a cleanable filter but still has all the gross water, all the nasties are just gonna build up in there with no way to actually get rid of it. its a pain but I prefer cleaning the filter and the pump so I know there’s no mold in it
