@thefatherandsonproject01: Raising children is hard. Raising five children while navigating divorce, loneliness and the reality of doing it largely on your own is a completely different experience. In this conversation, a single mother of five opens up about the difficult years after divorce the moments when she felt alone, the pressures of parenting and the coping mechanisms she had to develop just to keep moving forward. This isn’t about judging mothers, fathers, marriage or divorce. It’s about hearing the lived experience behind the label “single mother.” Because sometimes people see the children being cared for… but they don’t see the woman trying to hold everything together behind the scenes. If you’ve experienced single motherhood, what’s something you wish people understood about what you were going through? One conversation at a time. @Advice with Mizan @iNikkah @Shabzy

But what about those father who don’t look back at his children to see or hear how they are and he then tells people the mother stops the children from answering when he himself doesn’t call or reply to his children messages?

Thank you for addressing such a topic. The hardest part is having to somehow heal in the middle of the storm, not being able to heal away from the chaos or noise in the same way as the absent parent can. Nobody sees how difficult it is trying to keep yourself together when you can't have even a day to yourself for self care

Practical help, emotional support and people I could rely on without feeling like a burden or always having to ask. Family who wouldn’t remind you of every small thing they did or make helping feel like an issue. Having sons, I would have loved someone to take them to pray at the masjid and help keep their deen alive in their hearts from a young age. As a woman, there’s only so much I could do in that respect. Mostly, someone to step in sometimes so I didn’t have to carry every responsibility that was created for two people alone. Single mothers don’t always need advice we get things done with or without help. Sometimes we just need someone to say, “I’ve got this bit. You can breathe.”
