I dont get how people can say pets are never gonna be on the same level as children because I love my cat as if she was my child. if anything happened to her I would be broken. to some people pets can be just like children

loosing a beloved pet is worse than not being able to have a kid. a pet has been there for years, a kidnu can't carry to term was just a thought & loosing an idea is never as painfull as loosing a family member

i never agreed with the mentality of "pets are practice for kids" until my roommates got a dog and i first hand saw how pet owners had to manage their entire daily life around him. pets are very much like kids to many ppl, so i believe the comment OP wanted to say is 100% justified, even if it would've furthered the divide

My childhood cat is 18 this December. I have mentally prepared myself for her end of life care. Yes I probably will get another cat eventually after my cat passes but that doesn’t change the pain of losing my childhood cat. She was a Christmas gift for me and my sister when I was 4 and I’m 22 now

I would've been worse. "you can always get a new baby... but we both know you can't keep it either." and then when she tells people I'd just say she's lying and has a history of this bad behavior and why would I EVER say anything so callous. then smirk when no one's looking. wouldn't have made reference to her pet comments, but I would have told her to Get Over It, and that I'd give her as much empathy for her miscarriages as she gave me for mine. tbf, I'd have probably been NC long ago, lol, but if not, she'd have absolutely gotten the above.
