I live in a small city outside San Diego. I’ve always gotten at least a hundred kids since I’m right off our Main Street. Now I get close to five hundred kids. No lie.

I think that now days, they just don’t go door to door like they used to. I live in a very small town, so the kids still trick or treat, but where my adult children live, in the bigger cities . . . they take the kids to the malls, or trunk or treat and such.

There was an entire street in my parent’s neighborhood that was the “elder block” no kids lived down that street when I was growing up. 20 years later, now they are the little kid street. Every house has kids and they give out so much Halloween candy

My parents are still in the house they bought when I was 4. They are seeing families with middle and high schoolers move in. They miss the trick or treaters tho

We are currently waiting for the new young adults to start their families. The neighborhood is in the quiet stage. I don’t like this period 😞. I miss the sound of kids playing outside.

We had very few kids in our neighborhood when we moved in as we had our kids more younger people moved in with kids. Definitely is a cycle.

My husband bought his house at 28 and now in our 30s and everyone is 60+ yr and retired. Only one house on our street that has two kids. But literally no one else. Neighborhood is also 90% retired

Our neighborhood the kids are all preteen and above. So like 8 to college age. But we still get tons of trick or treaters but nobody is really out “playing” anymore. They all have sports or music lessons.

I’ve noticed this as well. I live in the same town my father and I grew up and the waves of children is interesting

I see lots of kids in my neighborhood, but I guess the parents are afraid to let them go door to door for trick or treating. Get way less than we used to

The fact that they’re outside playing is heartening. 🥰

I moved back to the side of town I grew up on when I moved back into the area and it was all older people like no kids now more and more families are moving in and we went from 3 neighborhood kids for a few blocks to probably 25 now. it's honestly awesome to see.

So I'm 47, so I've been there since a teenager. When my kids were little, there were kids everywhere. Now they're grown but my neighborhood seems like it just died off when it comes to Halloween. Everyone goes to the downtown stuff or to the way more expensive neighborhoods. I get that but it's kinda sad
