India uses the Westminster system of voting and like all Commonwealth nations, votes are counted quickly! Polling places are numerous and thousands count votes after the polls close.

On top of the obvious, India has a Prime Minister. Also, we could do well to emulate their actions when it comes to voting bc they bring the booth to you! They're invested in having a voting population that votes.

India has a president but its a mainly ceremonial role and is voted for by parliament not the whole country, the prime minister like the UK is not directly voted for they are the leader of the party that gains the most votes,

Also many states, tie local elections with national elections. so it's not like they are counting national election separate from county/state elections
