@supportsystem442: She was heart shattering. Her intake haunts me. She was left in a box with both her eyes ruptured, her abdomen septic, and her spine deformed. Her situation was horrific and to think someone left her suffering in that box left to die wrecked my heart. The shelter asked if could take over and my feet were moving before my brain. I ran to her so fast and rushed her to the hospital. I gave approval to pour everything into her. Anything and everything to try and fix what's been done. I stayed with her because for some reason my voice calmed her. We found she needed emergency surgery and intervention to save her life. She survived surgery and kept showing us she wanted to fight. I wanted to take her home with me so bad but I was also facing my own medical journey that wasn't easy. My heart and mind kept thinking of her while we were both admitted. My surgery came last week and I was released from the hospital. The night I was released she was in my home and in my bed with me. I knew in the bottom of my heart it's what we both needed. She felt comfort with me and I felt purpose with her. We are healing together. we spend most of our days lying in my bed comfy. She is the sweetest soul in the world. We both have long roads still ahead of us but we are doing well. This journey isn't easy or fair but it's ours. Together we are finding peace and healing. Rescue is so much more than some understand.. I've renamed her because her name just didn't fit from intake. So I officially announce our little queens name is Della.
