RECIPE: 🇭🇹 Haitian Bannann Peze (Fried Plantains / Tostones) Makes about 12–16 pieces Ingredients: • 2 green plantains • Oil for frying • Salt to taste Lime Water (for between fries) • 2 cups water • 1 1/2 tsp salt • Juice of 1 lime Instructions: 1. Peel the green plantains and cut into 1-inch pieces at an angle preferably(but you can also cut it straight down) 2. Heat oil to 350 degrees F. 3. Fry the plantain pieces for 3–5 minutes, until lightly golden and slightly tender. Do not brown them too much. 4. Remove from the oil and flatten each piece using a tostonera, plate, or the bottom of a glass. 5. In a bowl, combine the water, salt, and lime juice. 6. Quickly dip the flattened plantains into the lime water mixture, then remove and let any excess liquid drip off. 7. Increase the oil temperature to 375 degrees F. 8. Fry the plantains a second time for 1–2 minutes, until crispy and golden. 9. Drain and sprinkle with additional salt if desired. Serve hot. Air Fryer Method: 1. Lightly coat the plantains with oil. 2. Air fry at 375 degrees F for 8–10 minutes. 3. Flatten the plantains. 4. Quickly dip them in the lime water mixture and pat lightly if needed. 5. Lightly spray with oil again. 6. Air fry at 400 degrees F for 4–6 minutes, until crispy and golden. *Traditional Haitian Method: Traditionally you would soak the cut green plantains in salted water, sometimes with lime or sour orange, for 10–20 minutes before frying. The plantains are then drained and patted dry, fried once, flattened, and fried a second time until crispy and golden. Enjoy 😊 #haitianfood #friedplantains #EasyRecipe #foryoupage #explorepage✨
