He always had trouble staying asleep since he was a baby. I was told when he gets older he will sleep longer. Well, he got older and his sleep was the same. Waking up every 3-4 hours. Never a full night sleep without interruptions. Ive tried everything , humidifiers , purifiers, essential oils and fans Only thing that temporarily relieved him was saline spray. It got worse last winter to the point he was waking up every hour crying his nose was hurting. Poor sleep effects behavior, especially in school, appetite, growth , the list goes on. When he doesn’t sleep I dont sleep. Which effected my mental and physical health. I was more irritated , easily short tempered and over stimulated with him. Deep down the guilt ate me alive but at the moment I couldn’t help it. Long story short, his NP referred me to an ENT specialist. He got his enlarged adneiods removed and his sleep quality improved the same night post surgery! Had I known this was common in children I would’ve had him checked out sooner! #surgery #kids #pediatricnurse #ENT #moms
