I have an "unemployed" friend, he pulls Sassa every month and runs his own thing on the side. I gross 30k a month, he grosses just under 30k a month (depending on how the month goes). Yet, when it gets to the bottom line, he's got just over 6k a month more than me. Seems like it's better to be unemployed and do your own thing than actually work for the person earning 200k a month.

Had this discussion the other day, in europe one only pays tax and rest are inclusive. In South Africa we pay for good healthcare, education, security, basic services, solar. Like things that are suppose to be basic needs we have to pay extra for.

My tax is 41% + 17% GEPF, and then there’s VAT 😭✋🏾✋🏾✋🏾 I pay for medical aid + car & car insurance. The system is rigged.

Because in South Africa. We pay for everything twice. You pay tax then you hire private security. You pay tax then you buy new tires every year cause there’s no such thing as road maintenance. Unless it’s an election year of course🤪
