According to Sheriff Tina Nieto, Monterey County detectives worked closely with the FBI and Mexican authorities to locate Diana and secure her safe rescue. During the operation, Sergio Galvez Perez was arrested after Mexican authorities reportedly found him in possession of narcotics. Authorities in Mexico are also aware of pending charges against Perez in Monterey County related to alleged crimes committed against Diana. Diana is safe and is currently in the care of local authorities in Mexico. The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office thanked the FBI and Mexican law enforcement agencies for their assistance throughout the investigation and rescue effort. A press conference will be scheduled at a later date, where authorities are expected to provide additional information about the investigation, Diana’s rescue and Perez’s arrest.
