Guy Gardner was another that changed the oath. instead of "Green Lantern's Light" at the end, his ending is "Guy Gardner's Light"

Little known bit of info here, but in the animated Green Lantern series, another character, Razor, who was a Red Lantern, also changed the Oath he used into something different from other Red Lanterns. And at one point when discussing the Oath, Killowog, a Fellow Green Lantern, said that the Intent and cadence were more important than the words rhyming since so many other species have different words for different meanings.

Hal Jordan actually came up with G.L. Oath in Green Lantern #2 I believe after he already had some experience being a Lantern. That’s the path we hear in thr canonical comic book oath to the lantern. Other lanterns from other sectors took up the same oath Hal came up with because that’s the best embodiment of what they pursue in their own stories. Also every color ring gets its own oath; the yellow ring based on fear and the red rings are from rage, and the orange rings are greed I believe which makes me think we won’t see the last of avaricious blonde that got the watch and bag of money from J. Stewart. New ring=new oath if u want @James Gunn

But is an embracing fear a train for the yellow lantern though? It’s the oath has some kind of wording where he said “look I’m afraid but that’s OK cause I’ll overcome it l” then that would make sense.

You don't have to say the oath. Charging the ring takes the same amount of time as saying the oath. It's ceremonial.
