They slid for a bit, but even so, cost of ownership was lower. And it isn’t like other cars outside the big couple hold value much better, and certainly not enough to offset set cost of ownership. Also, I never buy new, always let someone else eat the first wave of depreciation no matter the car. Bought mine 4 years old for about half new cost, but now a year later; I can sell it for more than I bought it for 20k more miles later. But I won’t sell, I love it.
