One of my 2nd grade student’s stepdad scheduled a conference about his grades. 5 minutes into the conference in walks dad (which I’d never met and thought stepdad was the actual dad). They asked the questions, made the plans to get son on track and it was stepdad who was the firm one. Dad said son knew he couldn’t stick to consequences. No moms present. Overhead dad afterward thanking stepdad for coming. They were a real team. It was beautiful.
