@mercedesmariefit: If you’re a night shift nurse working 3 x 12s and trying to lose weight + get toned, stop trying to force workouts into your work days. Here’s how I’d schedule your training instead: 1. Do NOT train after a 12-hour night shift. Your priority should be getting home, eating if needed, winding down and getting to sleep. 2. Keep your 3 work days focused on work, nutrition, hydration, steps and recovery. You already have enough physical + mental stress on those days. 3. Train on your days OFF. Aim for 3 strength-training sessions per week, around 30–45 minutes each. 4. Put your hardest workouts, especially leg days, on the off days when you’re the most rested and actually have the energy to train hard. 5. If you have several shifts in a row, stop feeling like you need to “make up” for missed gym days. Three intentional workouts on your off days will do far more for your results than dragging yourself through exhausted workouts after work. Your schedule doesn’t need to look like someone who works a normal 9–5. It needs to work with your 12-hour shifts so you can actually stay consistent long enough to see results. DM me NOC if you’re a night shift nurse and want help building a fat-loss plan around your actual work schedule.
