The one that says it takes goodbyes to be a better version of yourself, I felt that in my soul. My mother just simply didn’t have room for me. Or maybe it was never in her plans to ever love me. A child of 9 and I was the only one who had to fight for her love only to be left in the dirt because I just simply got tired of chasing a love that was never meant for me. I was the only one that looked for her when she was sick, quick to do anything to make her feel better. The only one who dressed her so she can look her best. The only one who knew her medication she had to take. The one who would tell her to sleep in, “I got the house mom”. I would forget about me just so that one day just maybe one day she can see me and the love I hungered for in return. I’m not sure if it was just me being scared of her because she was cruel to me for reasons I seem to never find. I ran away every time she would belittle me so I wouldn’t harm myself so I wouldn’t yell into a pillow. Until one day I ran away and never looked back because I knew the only way I’d escape her was if I ended my life. I left and met my husband a love that I questioned because I’ve never felt love that was so soft and gentle. I questioned everything. We had a daughter and I can never ever not love her for one second of my life. I can’t imagine my life without her. I will love her so profoundly not so she doesn’t feel like me but because she is me in a way god said here you are someone to pour all that love in. She’s my everything. I miss her when she naps I miss her when she independently plays I miss her and love her. I had to say goodbye to find myself and who I really am. I encourage you do the same. 💗
