I’d have thought the stolen phone pinging at that address and him resembling the thief caught on video would have been enough to obtain a search warrant. It certainly would be sufficient in the UK

I find it very strange that the police in US have time to investigate such low level thefts. The police in UK wouldn’t even bother dealing with this .. let alone give you a crime ref. Number. They will send you to your phone insurance company to sort it out
