But Rachel isn’t the only thing worth watching. 🌊 A new area of low pressure in the southwestern Gulf now has a 50% chance of tropical development during the next 7 days. The system is expected to initially drift east before eventually turning north. At the same time, a stalled frontal boundary and deep tropical moisture are pumping rounds of heavy rain into parts of the Gulf Coast. Southern Texas and portions of the Southeast are dealing with an atmosphere capable of producing extremely heavy rainfall, while farther north a cold front is sweeping cooler autumn air toward the Great Lakes and Northeast.
