I think a stylised approach would be ideal, ht I'm not sure about this specific one. It just feels like a filter has been popped onto them, and isn't quite gelling with the pixel art, which doesn't have that same aesthetic.

Personally I like the stylised… reminds me of older games when they’d have to basically paint the skybox. Love it.
