@kenthinker_255: SHORT HISTORY...👇 Dr. Nico Kasanda (1939–1985) was a legendary Congolese guitarist and composer, widely regarded as one of the pioneers of modern Congolese rumba and soukous. He began his career as a teenager with Joseph Kabasele’s African Jazz in the 1950s and later co-founded African Fiesta with Tabu Ley Rochereau. His innovative solo-guitar style greatly influenced African music, earning him the nickname “Docteur Nico.” He also played guitar on the famous independence song “Indépendance Cha Cha” in 1960. He retired from the music scene in the mid-1970s and died in Brussels in 1985, aged 46. #rhumba #rhumbamusic #congo #foryoupage #drnicokasanda
