Sure, on the surface that sounds like a compelling argument, and it's absolutely true that China has pulled hundreds of millions of people out of poverty along with massive advancement. Nobody can take that away from them. But look at how the system is actually structured, because the math isn't mathing for me. Socialism is supposed to be about ending hierarchy. So why hasn't there been a single woman on the Politburo since 2022? And why is the state now nudging women back toward traditional family roles to fix the birth rate? Then look at how minorities are treated. Uyghurs, Tibetans and Mongolians are being pushed to assimilate...mass detention in Xinjiang, kids sent to state boarding schools, Mandarin replacing their own languages in the classroom. So...that's not liberation of marginalized people or women. That's the opposite. And here's another question to ask yourself...if the system really is that much better than everywhere else, why does it need the Great Firewall and mass surveillance to protect the story? I'm not saying the progress is fake. I'm saying wealth built on top of those hierarchies doesn't lead to socialism. It leads to authoritarian control. Sorry, but my AuDHD pattern recognition says they're full of shit.

China has accomplished a lot. I do not appreciate their tactics though. Stealing US tech while manufacturing, reverse / re-engineering it a bit, and selling it cheaper. Look at the new Xiaomi Folding phone. Almost an exact replica of the Apple Duo.

it's also worth noting the interesting reason why China sort of backtracked from socialism to capitalism. in the "normal" series of events, a feudal system is overthrown by the capitalists who install a system designed for them, and then that capitalist system is later overthrown by the people who install a system designed for them (socialism). it happens this way because in order to support society you need the infrastructure and economy created by capitalism. China was a feudal system, and was overthrown by the people not the capitalists. they essentially skipped a step, went "whoopsies" and introduced a form a capitalism designed with the intent to be used for the people so that it could build up that economy to be seamlessly transitioned into socialism rather than overthrown. the goal of this type of capitalism is technically still profits and efficiency, but NEVER at the expense of society. traditional capitalism couldn't care less about society.

In principle, and if our system of government operated as designed, we could also have an efficient economic system that delivers a good standard of living for all Americans. The problem is that our elected representatives do the bidding of the moneyed interests rather than representing the best interests of their constituents. According to Marx America is likely approaching a tipping point into revolution.

China declared an end to extreme poverty only by its own national standard, not an end to poverty itself. Millions were lifted out of destitution, but poverty and economic hardship persist, there are no certain conditions that could entertain the notion that poverty will ever end anywhere, at any time.
